A former University of Kentucky co-ed whose drunken racist rant went viral is staying behind bars.
Sophia Rosing, 24, who was hit with a one-year sentence last year after shouting the N-word more than 200 times during a series of drunken racial assaults, has been denied early release, according to a report by the Courier-Journal newspaper.
Rosingās lawyer filed a āshock probationā request last month, claiming his troubled client had changed her ways and ādedicated herself to personal growth and accountabilityā but was suffering from ātremendous personal and professional consequencesā for her behavior, the outlet said.
The judge nixed it Wednesday, saying it would āunduly depreciate the seriousnessā of the crime.
Rosing got into hot water on Nov. 6, 2022 during a series of racist assaults that culminated with a caught-on-video attack on Kylah Spring, a 19-year-old black student worker on the Lexington college campus.
āYouāre a nā-r and youāre a bitch,ā an out-of-control Rosing shouts in the video, during which she tells Spring to ādo my choresā and yells, āitās not my fault that youāre black.ā
Rosing then went off on cops when they showed up, kicking and biting them before being hauled away.
She pleaded guilty to assault charges in October in exchange for a 12-month sentence and 100 hours of community service, along with a $25 fine.
Rosing, who was permanently banned from the university, has been kept separate from other inmates at the jail for fear of retaliation over her racist tirade, according to reports.
