Embalmer gives dead sex offender a sick sendoff by cutting off his penis, stuffing it in his mouth: cops
An embalmer at a Texas funeral home allegedly cut off a dead manâs penis and stuffed it in his mouth after learning he was a registered sex offender, cops said.
Amber Laudermilk, 34, is accused of taking a scalpel to 58-year-old Charles Roy Rodriguezâs groin while she was overseeing the convicted sex perpâs body at the Memorial Mortuary & Crematory in Houston last month.
She allegedly stabbed him twice before castrating him and shoving the remains down his throat, according to police.
Laudermilk carried out the alleged mutilation in front of an embalming student, authorities said.
âYou didnât see anything,â she allegedly warned the student just moments after mutilating the corpse.
When questioned by another employee about Rodriguezâs âdisfiguredâ groin, Laudermilk shot back that he had âa lot going on with him,â charging documents state.
Rodriguez died of natural causes at a Houston hospital in January, cops said.
He was listed on the Texas Department of Public Safety sex offender registry after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 31-year-old woman in 2001 and given a decade of probation.
It wasnât immediately clear how Laudermilk became aware of Rodriguezâs rap sheet.
âThis case is about two troubled people: the victim who was a registered sex offender and the defendant, who is accused of viciously attacking his dead body,â Harris County Constable Alan Rosen said. â
No matter what one thinks of his life, the law requires that he be treated with dignity in death.â
âI donât know the suspectâs past, but we have the utmost empathy for anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault or is the family or friend of someone who has been the victim of a sexual assault,â Rosen added.
âThe facts clearly indicate she was angry and I hope after this is resolved in the courts, she gets the help she needs.â
Laudermilk was charged with abuse of a corpse this week after the funeral home reported the alleged castration to authorities.
