An ex-boyfriend of the Bronx woman found dead in a suitcase beside a highway in Yonkers was charged Friday with her murder, according to the NYPD.
Junior Perez Diaz, 46, is also facing charges of manslaughter and kidnapping in connection to the death and disappearance of his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend Pamela Alcantara, police said Friday.

Diaz was picked up by police for questioning shortly after the gruesome discovery as a license plate reader caught his car near where the body was discovered.
Alcantara spoke to her mother via FaceTime on Sunday, the same day she was last seen in her Fordham Heights apartment building, relatives told News12.
Surveillance footage from the building shows the victim entering an elevator that day, but she never reemerged, according to video obtained by the outlet.
The family became worried when Alcantara didnāt show up to a church service on Sunday, kin told the outlet. They quickly reported Alcantara missing and began plastering photos of the missing woman near her apartment in the Bronx neighborhood.
They are now distraught over the sudden loss of the young woman.
āWe are all devastated because this should have never happened,ā a relative told News 12, adding, āShe was only 26-years-old and had her whole life ahead of her.ā

The family said that Alcantara had recently ended a three-year relationship with Diaz and was in the process of moving out from the apartment where they believe she was murdered, ABC 7 reported.
The report stated family members believed they saw signs of a struggle in the apartment when they entered on Monday.
A makeshift memorial popped up outside the building Thursday night after her body was found by police ā with neighbors placing candles at the foot of Alcantaraās missing posters.
Diaz is currently awaiting his arraignment.
