The South Carolina convict set to die by firing squad Friday chose Kentucky Fried Chicken for his last meal, which he shared with his death row buddies, according to his attorney.Â
Double murderer Brad Sigmon, 67, is scheduled to become the first US death row inmate to die by the unusual method in 15 years at 6 p.m. â who pleaded guilty to murdering his ex-girlfriendâs parents with a baseball bat in 2001 â chose death by firing squad over the electric chair or lethal injection.
Before being taken into the death chamber, Sigmon, who pleaded guilty to murdering his ex-girlfriendâs parents with a baseball bat in 2001, had âfinger lickinâ goodâ KFC one last time, his lawyer, Gerald âBoâ King, told WYFF4.Â

âBrad is someone who, for his last meal, asked to get three buckets of original recipe Kentucky Fried Chicken so he could share with the guys heâs incarcerated with on death row,â King told the outlet, adding that Sigmon serves as an âinformal chaplainâ of the jailbirds.Â
In a last-minute bid to spare his client from the firing squad early Friday, King cited his personal connections inside the clink as evidence of his rehabilitation â and argued that Sigmon should have never received the death penalty because he was struggling with mental health at the time of the slayings.Â

But South Carolinaâs Supreme Court rejected the plea, paving the way for his execution unless Gov. Henry McMaster commutes his death sentence.Â
The Republican will make his decision moments before the execution is slated to begin, but no Palmetto State governor has granted clemency in the 49 years since the death penalty was restored.
