Police and Fire Department save the life of a man in a vehicle that was driven into the lake.
At approximately 11:13 am Tuesday Hope Mills Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven into Hope Mills Lake.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered the vehicle, a 2016 Honda Civic, submerged in the water and the driver still inside.
Police Officers Tony Locklear and Marisol Kozain and Firefighter Matthew Ruffin entered the water, were able to get the driver out of the vehicle and brought him safely to the shore.
The driver was identified as Gilberto Solla Jr., age 37, from Florida. Solla and Officer Locklear were transported to the hospital for observation but were doing fine according to a press release.
