Whoopi Goldberg is facing backlash online for a rant on âThe Viewâ defending transgender athletes competing in female events â leaving even trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney grimacing in stunned silence.
Goldberg dropped the remarks during Mondayâs episode as she railed against lefty California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently saying âitâs deeply unfairâ to make women go up against trans females.
âPart of the problem the trans community is facing, and itâs the same problem that women face, is if you donât know anything about our bodies, you donât know how it works,â Goldberg griped in the wake of Newsomâs remarks.

âWhen you come in and you say, these are men competing against women, youâre assuming that the women are weak and just canât do anything,â she said of critics who say the trans athletes having a biological advantage.
âHave you seen female athletes? They know what theyâre doing, so Iâm not sure whatâs going on or why this is an issue,â Goldberg continued.
The rant left a Mulvaney â who appeared on the talk show to promote her new memoir in the wake of the Bud Light saga backlash â smiling awkwardly without comment.
Goldberg went on the tirade just moments after probing Mulvaney for her thoughts on the Golden State governor apparently breaking ranks with his fellow Dems.
The TikTok star, though, seemingly tried to dodge the question.

âThe last time I played a sport, I was 6 years old, and I was on a soccer team, but I assigned myself as the nurse, so I sat with the Band-Aids. And so in the words of âWicked,â I am not that girl,â Mulvaney responded awkwardly.
She then pointed to her friend and trans athlete Schuyler Bailarâs perspective on the issue, saying: âThatâs someone who I really look to for guidance and I think that is whatâs tricky, is like, now stepping into this identity, Iâm still like a âbaby trans,â Iâm only three years in.â
The online backlash against Goldberg was swift.
âI will never not be impressed by how unintellectual and out of touch the women of The View are lol. Absolutely remarkable,â former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines raged on X.
âWhy is it the whole world can acknowledge that women are at a strength disadvantage when it comes to the risk of sexual assault/rape but when it comes to athletics the message is: âwomen are as strong as men! You got this ladies!!â,â conservative commentator Megyn Kelly added.
Author Jennifer Sey also chimed in, arguing âWhoopi Goldberg said that those of us fighting for the protection of womenâs sports are treating women like weak delicate flowers.â
âThis is so dumb. We are fighting for equal opportunity & safety for women. They are telling us to shut up & give men what they want,â she said.
